I'm Professor of Psychology, Edward Clarke, Ph.D. My fascination with pets extends beyond companionship. It extends to behavior, cognition, and other very real ways in which animals enrich mankind's existence. Because in my study of the human-animal bond, I have sought to learn of the techniques of manipulation and control used by animals, I have learned much about human social behavior and emotional and social adjustments.
From my writings, I hope to impart both scientific knowledge and personal opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of having pets in one's home. From the mechanical aspects of caring for pets to the emotional attachments formed, I hope to interest those who possess a great love for animals.
Besides research and writing, I enjoy observing my own pets, enjoying their quirks and personalities and advocating responsible ownership. Each pet, I find, is a lesson in empathy, patience and the simple joys of existence.
