Cleaning your hamster's sand bath container helps prevent bacteria from growing in the material, which could lead to skin or respiratory infections. Some cleaning materials require special treatment to avoid damage. Regular monthly deep cleaning, paired with spot maintenance, is an effective way to keep the bath sanitary. Do not fail to let your bath dry before adding more sand.

Thoroughly drying prevents mold growth. At a minimum, let containers air dry for at least four hours. To help them dry, leave them in sunlight for natural UV sanitizing properties. Do not refill when damp. Moisture causes sand to clump and increases the likelihood of bacteria contaminating the sand. Please be patient. Your well-being is worth waiting for.

I've seen an acrylic bath warp dangling! I absolutely recommend avoiding hot water and powerful cleaning chemicals. I recommend you use vinegar solutions at room temperature. You'll destroy the bugs and preserve your bath! Always support the base while washing it to avoid distortion!

Ceramic pots. These should be carefully placed in the water when boiling. Always first set them down in cold water or expose them to steam. Gradually raise the temperature over five minutes. Sudden variations in temperature, especially from cold to hot, tend to cause cracking in earthenware. As a general rule, cool them on wooden floors rather than stones.

Have a separate cleaning kit for your hamster's needs, using only the supplies designated for that area. Brushes and cloth should be used only on hamster supplies and put in closed bags in between uses to avoid picking up household cleaners that could be toxic.
