Surface Safety

Correct placement of heat lamps will produce ideal temperature gradients. "When required, heat lamps should be positioned 12 to 18 inches above these surfaces, and the temperatures should be recorded on the basking platform rather than in the air. Temperature must be gradually adjusted to produce the required temperature for your species, but be careful not to offer such an intense basking area that a burning hot spot occurs".
