Are non-shedding dogs completely hypoallergenic?

Sensitivity varies from person to person. Some are allergic to dander, while others are allergic to saliva proteins. Make sure you have an exposure test before adopting a dog. You should spend 2-3 hours with the breed observing for any signs of allergic reactions, such as ocular itching or difficulty in breathing. Record the reactions.

Realistically manage your expectations. By combining breed selection with environmental management, you can help mitigate reactions, such as the selection of lower allergenic breeds like Portuguese Water Dogs.
